Curtis Barnes gives us the inside scoop for his Smoked Barbecue Sticky Wings. Game day will never taste the same! What you need:
- 5 lbs. chicken drumettes/wings
- 2 c. honey
- 2 c. barbecue sauce (your favorite)
Prepare a smoker or charcoal grill with charcoal to 250 degrees. Add cherry/apple/pecan (your preference) wood chunks to the hot coals. Place chicken drumettes/wings to grill and let smoke for about 20 minutes. Chicken pieces should have a red color to them from the smoke. Do not allow them to cook fully. Heat peanut oil to 325 degrees in a large saucepan or deep fryer. Place chicken parts in the hot oil until they float. Drain excess oil from chicken. In a large bowl, add the 2 cups of honey to 2 cups of barbecue sauce. Curtis’s preference: Sweet Baby Rays Barbecue Sauce. Toss until evenly covered; serve hot. No need for sour cream or blue cheese dressing; this recipe stands alone. Step up your game at family barbecues or football parties this season. The perfect wings will serve two purposes: Satisfy your hunger and silence your babbling friend who always has to talk through the whole game.
